Release Note: Automatic S2S Tracker Conversion

Introduction

Weโ€™re simplifying how tracker assets are handled for app campaigns by introducing automatic S2S (server-to-server) tracker conversionโ€”a setup we recommend for more reliable and accurate tracking.

Using an S2S tracker setup offers several key benefits:

  • Minimizes click discrepancies with your MMP.

  • Reduces the likelihood of click fraud activities like click flooding.

  • Provides a smoother user experience and improved performance by enabling direct redirection to the Play Store or App Store.

Feature Details

1. Current vs S2S Tracker Setup

Previously:

  • Normal Setup: Requires users to enter both impression URL and click URL.

  • S2S Setup: Users had to manually:

    • Replace the click URL with the App Store/Play Store link.

    • Move the original click URL to the S2S Click URL field.

    • No changes for impression URL

2. Whatโ€™s New? Automated S2S Conversion

Tracker Asset Creation:

  • When a user selects an app (not website) to create trackers for, the system now:

    • Auto-populates the Click URL field with the correct App Store/Play Store URL and relevant macros.

  • When a user adds the click URL, the system now:

    • Converts the original click URL into an S2S Click URL, following predefined formatting rules.
      โ€‹

  • No changes for Impression URL.

Tracker Asset Edit:

  • The user has the option to convert a non-S2S click tracker setup to an S2S tracker setup with a single click.

  • When a user clicks on Convert to S2S URL button, the system now:

    • Converts the original click URL into S2S Click URL, following predefined formatting rules.

Note: The changes are applicable for apps where the system can identify the MMP.

3. The S2S conversion rules

Below is a summary of how click URLs are modified based on the appโ€™s MMP. You can read more about S2S tracker setup here.

4. User Flexibility & Exceptions

  • Users can switch between S2S and normal setup at any time using a toggle.

  • If a user inputs a URL that is already in S2S format, no conversion is applied.

  • The system does not alter the setup for:

    • Web trackers

    • Deeplinks

    • Any custom setup links

    • Adjust branding links

Summary

With automatic S2S conversion built into the platform, setting up app trackers is now faster, easier, and less error-prone. This ensures better data tracking while giving users the flexibility to switch tracking modes as needed although we highly recommend using S2S tracker setup.
