Overview
The Campaign Setup Helper is a new feature built directly into the campaign setup experience. As you create or edit a campaign, it checks your setup against Kayzen's best practices and surfaces recommendations in a side panel, right next to the fields you are working on.
It is powered by the same kAI Companion intelligence that runs across the platform.
Recommendations are triggered by your actual campaign settings, so they are specific and predictable. When you want to understand the reasoning behind one, you can ask and get an explanation on the spot.
Every finding is advisory. The Setup Helper never blocks a launch, Kayzen's approach is to give you all the recommendations and leave you free to decide.
Why we built this
Until now, there was no safeguard to ensure that a campaign's setup follows best practices for performance. Suboptimal settings, a mismatched creative type, an overly restrictive target bid, or a budget too low to reach optimization mode, can start a campaign from a weaker position, limiting the bidder's ability to learn and hurting early results.
The cost of these issues is real: lost optimization opportunities and weaker outcomes. Best practices already existed to guide better setup but they were just not surfaced when and where users were making those choices.
Key feature details
1. Rule-based recommendations as you build
The Setup Helper evaluates a curated set of rules against your live campaign state and surfaces the results in the side panel:
Rules are triggered by your setup (e.g., creative type, objective, country, and budget), so each recommendation is concrete and tied to a specific field.
When you open a setup page, all rules for that page evaluate against the current campaign. As you change a field, the relevant rules re-evaluate, and recommendations appear, update, or disappear.
Because it is rule-based rather than free-form AI, the guidance is consistent and predictable, no guesswork about what to change.
2. Three severity levels
Recommendations are ranked so you know what matters most:
Critical: breaks or critically degrades delivery (e.g. a video deal ID used on an image campaign, or a budget too low to reach optimization).
Warning: suboptimal and likely to hurt performance (e.g. mixing Tier 1 and Tier 3 countries in one campaign).
Insight: best-practice polish (e.g. a suggested frequency-cap default for video).
3. Ask why, explanations on demand
Recommendations are meant to be understood, not applied blindly. Any recommendation can be expanded for an AI-generated explanation of why it applies to your specific campaign, in plain language.
Explanations combine Kayzen's curated best-practices knowledge with your live campaign setup at the moment you ask.
You can ask follow-up questions, but the scope is deliberately tight: the assistant only discusses your setup and its recommendations, not general platform topics.
Example: âWhy is this max bid too low for US video?â returns the reasoning and the recommended range for that geo and format.
4. New and running campaigns
The Setup Helper appears whenever you open a campaign's setup, whether you are building a new one or editing an existing one, but it adapts to the situation:
New campaigns: the full set of recommendations (Critical, Warning, Insight) so you start from a strong position.
Already-running campaigns: only Critical issues are shown. Warnings and Insights are held back. Once a campaign is live, we assume your changes are intentional and data-backed, so we surface only what could genuinely break delivery.
5. Coverage across the full setup
The Setup Helper reviews the pages where setup decisions carry the most weight:
Information: schedule, deal ID, app/website URL, ad domain.
Budget: target CPx, max bid, capping, pacing, frequency, bid shading, app diversity, and more.
Targeting: country tiers, exchanges, traffic type, Smart App Categories, white/black lists.
Creatives: creative count and mix, video orientation, end cards, trackers.
How to access Campaign Setup Helper
There is no separate button or icon to open, the Setup Helper is part of the campaign setup experience itself:
Open or create a campaign. The recommendations panel appears automatically on the setup pages.
Review recs page by page, and expand any rec to understand the reasoning behind it.
Note: The Setup Helper is only available on the campaign setup screen. It is not a chat you open from elsewhere, and it does not appear as a separate entry point in the kAI Companion menu.
Tips for expert users
Dismiss what doesn't apply: any rec is dismissible for the current campaign, useful when a setting is intentional and data-backed. Dismissing a recommendation is feedback for us. If we see that several users dismiss the same recommendations, we will reconsider showing it.
Carry-over keeps the important ones in view: unresolved Critical (and Warning) recs follow you across pages, so nothing critical gets lost as you move through setup.
Ask more: you can access the chat by clicking the âWhyâ button. From there, you can ask additional questions about the setup, and if we have relevant best practices, weâll provide them.
Resolve, don't just dismiss: changing a field to meet the recommendation counts as resolved, the best signal that your setup is launch-ready.
The Campaign Setup Helper focuses on getting campaigns set up correctly. Recommendations for optimizing campaigns while theyâre running are a separate capability, coming later through the kAI Companion chat.
